MAIDUGURI, Nigeria: The Borno State Police Command has officially refuted baseless claims surrounding an alleged attack on the State Command Headquarters in Maiduguri, according to a press release issued on February 3, 2024, by ASP Nahum Daso Kenneth, Borno State Police Public Relations Officer.
In the press release, the Command categorically denied the accuracy of the information circulating, describing it as false and lacking any factual basis. The State Command Headquarters in Maiduguri was affirmed to be secure and operational, with no reported incidents of an attack.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ml Yusufu, expressed condolences to the families of four police officers who tragically lost their lives while defending the police quarters in Gajiram Town, Nganzai LGA. The incident occurred on the night of February 2, 2024, at approximately 23:13 hours, when unknown gunmen launched an attack.
The public was strongly urged to dismiss the misleading information and be assured that the situation at the State Command Headquarters in Maiduguri is stable and devoid of any disruptions.
Members of the public were advised to exercise vigilance and promptly report any suspicious activities within their surroundings to the appropriate authorities.
