Police Command in Nasarawa State says it has deployed adequate personnel across the 13 Local Government Areas (LGAs) to provide security to the candidates currently writing the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
SP Ramhan Nansel, the Command Public Relations Officer stated this in a statement on Friday in Lafia.
Nansel explained that Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, Commissioner of Police (CP) has put in place comprehensive security arrangements to ensure the smooth and hitch-free conduct of the ongoing 2026 computer-based-test (CBT) UTME.
He noted that the action was in line with the directives of the I-G Olatunji Rilwan-Disu, and in furtherance of the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
“The CP has ordered the deployment of adequate personnel to all approved CBT examination centres across the state.
“This measure is aimed at guaranteeing a safe, peaceful, and conducive environment for candidates, examination officials, and other stakeholders.”
The police spokesperson noted that those deployed comprise uniformed officers, plainclothes operatives, and intelligence personnel.
He explained that the personnel were mainly tasked to maintain law and order, prevent any form of compromise, and respond promptly to any security concerns that may arise during the exercise.
He further said the Command has intensified patrols, surveillance, and access control measures around examination centres and adjoining areas to deter criminal activities and ensure the seamless movement of candidates and officials.
He urged parents, guardians, and candidates to cooperate with security personnel, comply strictly with examination guidelines, and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police formation.
Nansel reassured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state and wished all candidates success in their examinations. (NAN).
