The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ali Umar-Fage, disclosed this in a statement issued in Katsina on Friday, by DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, the command’s spokesperson.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the UTME, which was scheduled to commence from April 16 to April 24, is ongoing across the state.

According to the police commissioner, the deployment covers all 19 approved examination centres, in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police.

Umar-Fage said the measure was aimed at providing a conducive and secure environment for candidates, examination officials and other stakeholders involved in the exercise.

He said personnel on duty had been directed to maintain professionalism, remain courteous, and be firm and proactive in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The commissioner added that traffic control had been strengthened around examination centres and adjoining routes to ensure smooth movement during the exercise.

He urged candidates, parents and members of the public to cooperate with security personnel and comply with all examination guidelines to ensure a seamless process.

Umar-Fage further warned that anyone found engaging in acts capable of undermining the integrity of the examination would be dealt with in accordance with the law.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property, as well as the maintenance of peace and order throughout the examination period.

The commissioner also called on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police formation or through the command’s emergency lines: 08156977777, 09022209690 and 07072722539. (NAN)
