The newly elected executives of the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) Katsina State Council, has paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police in the state, Ali Umar-Fage.
The visit, led by the Chairman of the council, Aminu Garba-Dandagoro was part of efforts to strengthen collaboration and foster cordial relations between the police and the media.
Speaking during the visit, Garba-Dandagoro said it aimed to familiarize with the leadership of the command and reinforce the cordial working relationship between both organizations.
He said the union remained committed to supporting the police and other security agencies through effective dissemination of accurate information and promotion of peace, security and public safety across the state.
The NUJ chairman added that journalists would continue to uphold professionalism and responsible reportage in the discharge of their duties.
He appreciated the commissioner and the command’s management team for the warm reception accorded to the delegation.
Responding, Umar-Fage congratulated the NUJ chairman and members of his executive council on their election into office and wished them a successful tenure.
The police commissioner acknowledged the critical role of the media in ensuring peace and security, urging journalists to remain objective, fair and professional in their reports.
He reiterated the commitment of the command to sustaining its relationship with the union and other stakeholders toward enhancing public trust, cooperation and effective policing in the state. (NAN)
