ABUJA – In a significant move to restructure and enhance the efficiency of key federal agencies, President Bola Tinubu has dismissed the Chief Executives of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), according to a statement by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.

The heads of FCCPC, Mr. Babatunde Irukera, and BPE, Mr. Alexander Okoh, have been relieved of their duties with immediate effect. The decision aligns with the government’s commitment to reshaping critical agencies for optimal performance, safeguarding the rights of Nigerian consumers, and bolstering the contributions of growth-enabling institutions to the nation’s economy.

Ngelale highlighted the directive for the dismissed executives to promptly hand over their responsibilities to the next most senior officers within their respective agencies, pending the appointment of new leadership.

The shakeup in leadership comes as part of broader efforts by the Tinubu administration to address organizational inefficiencies and promote a more robust regulatory framework for consumer protection and economic growth.

The government remains focused on implementing strategic reforms that will pave the way for a stronger and more responsive public sector, ensuring that key agencies play a pivotal role in Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
