Tinubu faces another legal battle in Supreme Court over 2023 presidential poll

Abuja, Nigeria – The Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) announced on Thursday that President Bola Tinubu will make a decisive determination regarding the status of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, following the conclusion of the ongoing investigation.

President Tinubu took action on Monday by suspending Edu amidst allegations of her involvement in a N585 million fraud. A leaked memo suggested that she had recently sanctioned the transfer of N585 million in social intervention funds into a private account belonging to a civil servant.

In response to these allegations, Tinubu directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.

Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, urged the public not to rush to judgment on Edu’s culpability in the corruption allegations. He stressed that Nigerians should exercise patience and await the completion of the ongoing investigations before drawing any conclusions about Edu’s involvement.

Governor Uzodinma addressed journalists in Abuja after a meeting of the Forum, stating, “And in the wisdom of the President, she is being investigated. It is after the investigation is concluded and the report made available to the government that it will take a final decision.”

The situation remains fluid as the investigation unfolds, with the President reserving the right to make a definitive decision based on the findings. The public is advised to await the official report before forming any conclusions on the matter.
