Some Muslim clerics  have encouraged the faithful to trust in God in spite of subsisting challenges, as God has the capacity to turn things around positively.

The clerics  spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)  on the sidelines of the 2022 Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT) Nigeria Ramadan Lecture on Monday.

The lecture, which had the theme: “And Seek Help With Patience and Prayer”, was to broaden Muslim faithful understanding on how to approach God for desired result.

NAN  reports that the event, held at the NASFAT Centre, Aseese Ogun, was anchored on the topic “ATTAWAKKUL”,  which means “Reliance on Allah”.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Imam of Falomo Lagos Central Mosque, Dr Tajudeen Adebayo, said: “As  believers who rely on God, there are certain things we are not expected to be part of in the society especially when things were not going the way we want.

“Our communion with God should shield us from responding to things the way others do that could cause unnecessary tension in the society.

“Instead, we should take the issue or situation to God in prayer trusting him to make it better for us. Reliance on God depicts total submission to the will of God in every ramifications,’’ he said.

Adebayo decried some unwholesome attitudes of faithful especially when things were not going in accordance with their plan.

According to him,  fervent prayer and belief in God can  improve such unwanted situations confronting mankind.

“Our communion with God should be hinged on our total reliance in Allah for he is ever faithful to deliver people from every anxiety.

“If you are blessed by God through someone, do not arrogate his glory to that person through which God blessed you but to HIM, the most high should we give praise,” he said.

He charged the faithful to resist the bandwagon perception of social challenges, saying “God has reason for everything that happen”.

Also, a former Chief Imam of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Abdul Oladosu, said that faithful religious practice required sacrifices from believers to move God’s hands of benevolence toward his people.

According to him, service to humanity is key to our relationship with God.

He charged worshippers to always look around  to render the act of almsgiving to those in need to give room for harmonious society and more blessings from God.

The President of NASFAT, Mr Niyi Yusuf, said that the organisation would continue to widen its scope to improve on the faith of people in God.

He added that the organisation had taken it as an obligation to feed many during the subsisting fasting period to keep them in tune with the Ramadan season. (NAN)
