Vice President Namadi Sambo on Thursday met with PDP Governors and stakeholders in North West and deliberated on ‘state of the nation’ and forthcoming National Convention of the party in Abuja.
Those at the meeting included Govs. Musa Kwankwaso of Kano, Saidu Dakingari of Kebbi, Sule Lamido of Jigawa, Ramalan Yero of Kaduna and Ibrahim Shema of Katsina States.
The National Vice Chairman of the PDP, North-West zone, Alhaji Ibrahim Kazaure, spoke with newsmen at the end of the meeting.
Kazaure said the meeting commended President Goodluck Jonathan’s determination to contain threats to peace and security in some parts of the North.
He said some of the measures put in place to check social unrest and insecurity had started yielding positive results.
“The meeting commended Jonathan, Sambo and the governors for their unwavering commitment to national unity and peaceful coexistence of all component parts of the federation.’’
He said the stakeholders also noted the performance of the PDP in the rapid resuscitation of the previously neglected basic infrastructure.
“Leaders of the zone unanimously pledged their support to the President and called for the cooperation of all Nigerians in his noble agenda of national revival.’’
Kazaure said the meeting also stressed the need for all members of the party to be guided at all times by provisions of the law and to shun all divisive tendencies.
“The meeting urged the national and zonal leadership of the PDP to continue with their efforts in ensuring party cohesion, fairness and resolute pursuit of the Programme of Reconciliation, Reformation and Rebuilding of the party.
“It expressed confidence that with the structures on ground, the PDP remains the most attractive platform for the transformation of Nigeria’’, he said.
According to him, the meeting notes with satisfaction, the determination of the zone to foster unity and continually speak with one voice. (NAN)
