Lagos, July 25 (NAN) Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has commended the outgoing Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr Dele Osinowo, for exemplary leadership that set a new benchmark for local governance in the state.
Sanwo-Olu gave the commendation on Friday at the official handover ceremony of projects by the outgoing council administration, held at the its secretariat in Alapere on Friday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the projects include the Otunba Bushura Alebiosu Multipurpose Building, Agboyi Community Primary School, Agboyi Ketu ICT Hub, Oba Taiwo Adesegun Lamina Sports Centre and a network of 4.4km of roads, facilitated by the council authority.
“Dele Osinowo’s tenure reflected the Lagos we are building, one where leadership is defined by service, impact, and accountability.
“I have been to this council more than three times in the last six years, this proves that there’s always one form of people- oriented programmes that enriched lives of residents of this community,” the governor said.

He praised the chairman’s commitment to grassroots development and encouraged other council leaders across the state to emulate the Agboyi-Ketu model.
Speaking during the ceremony, Osinowo said his administration had laid a legacy of purposeful leadership, people-centered development, and innovative local governance.
“The story of local government administration in Nigeria today is incomplete without referencing the work we have done in Agboyi-Ketu.
“We didn’t just speak progress; we lived it. We became the blueprint, not by words but by will, work, and results,” he said.
He said his administration focused on infrastructural development, social welfare, youth empowerment, and digital transformation, citing completed roads, school renovations, health facility upgrades, and ICT-driven projects as key legacies.
“We touched every area, roads, schools, broadband access, health institutions, markets, and innovation hubs. We empowered our people not only with resources but with dignity,” he said.
Osinowo also praised the role of the council’s media team, describing it as the heartbeat of grassroots communication that helped shape positive narratives and ensured transparency.
“To our central media hub, we rolled up our sleeves and worked, not because it was easy but because our people deserved the best,” he said.
He urged the incoming administration to build on the foundation laid and remain committed to the council’s development agenda.
“We are not just handing over files; we are handing over legacies. You belong here. This is a covenant with the people, and I trust that it will be honoured,” Osinowo said.
He expressed gratitude to residents, traditional leaders, youth groups, and development partners for their support throughout his tenure.
Also speaking, Mrs Adetola Abubakar, Chairman-elect, Agboyi Ketu LCDA, promised to continue to build on the foundation and legacies laid by the outgoing chairman of the council.
“Am really impressed with the foundation my predecessor has laid and i will continue to build on it for the continued benefit of residents of Agboyi Ketu,” she said.
NAN reports that dignitaries at the event include members of the Lagos state Executive Council, APC chairman in the state, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, members of the Governance Advisory Council, state assembly lawmakers, and first chairman of Agboyi Ketu LCDA, Mrs Yetunde Arobieke. (NAN)
