
The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has urged women to emulate the exemplary life of the Late Ms. Peace Marie Ogechi Anyiam-Osigwe. He made the call at the Funeral Mass of the Late Ms. Anyiam-Osigwe, held today at St. Dominics Catholic Church, Yaba, Lagos.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, the Governor stressed the importance of every Nigerian contributing their quota to the development of the country. He said that everyone has a unique role to play in making Nigeria great and called for proper parenting as a starting point for solving most of the problems in the country.
Sanwo-Olu acknowledged that the Late Ms. Anyiam-Osigwe, who was part of the professionals in the entertainment industry, had anchored the training of young people and ensured that they had the right skills to position them for a successful career in the industry. He noted that the entertainment industry has contributed significantly to the development of the country, both morally and socially.
The Governor added that the Lagos State Government had collaborated with the entertainment industry to train over 800 residents from Alimosho and Agege. He emphasized the need for individuals to play their part in the development of the country, regardless of their field or profession.
In his sermon, the Officiating Priest, Rt. Reverend Dr. John K. Aniagwu, described the Late Ms. Anyiam-Osigwe as a Christian who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. He stated that she lived and died believing in the Lord, and that she would rise again as a beneficiary of the promise Jesus made to Martha.
The Late Ms. Anyiam-Osigwe was a notable figure in the Nigerian entertainment industry. She was the founder of the African Movie Academy Awards and was known for her contributions to the development of the industry. Her death, therefore, came as a shock to many who knew her.
In attendance at the Funeral Mass were family members, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers of the Late Ms. Anyiam-Osigwe. The event was a somber affair, with many paying their respects to a woman who had contributed immensely to the growth and development of the entertainment industry in Nigeria.
