Security guard jailed 24 months for stealing employer’s batteries, radiator

A Jos Upper Area Court on Monday sentenced a security guard, Iliya Ibrahim, to 24 months imprisonment for stealing his employer’s articulated vehicle batteries and radiator.

The Presiding Judge, Mr Daniel Damulak, sentenced Ibrahim following his guilty plea to theft.

The judge however gave the convict an option to pay N 80,000 fine.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Ibrahim Gukwat, told the court that the case was reported at the ‘C’ division Police station Jos, on March 25, by Sylvester Nwibo and Uche Victor.

The prosecutor said that Ibrahim, who was employed to watch over the complainants’ goods, took advantage of the opportunity and stole the items.

The police prosecutor further told the court that during police investigation the convict pleaded guilty to the crime.

Gukwat, added that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 271 and 272 of the Plateau Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria.(NAN
