Singapore, December 5, 2023: In a bid to bolster its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, Singapore is embarking on an initiative to triple its pool of AI practitioners to 15,000. Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong announced the updated national strategy, outlining plans to achieve this goal through a combination of local training initiatives and international hiring.
Speaking at an event on Monday, Wong emphasized the critical role of data scientists, machine learning experts, and engineers as the backbone of AI development. The updated strategy aims to enhance Singapore’s position in the global AI landscape by fostering a skilled workforce capable of driving innovation and advancements in AI technologies.
