Lagos, December 4, 2023: The Nigeria Customs Service, Port and Terminal Multiservice Limited Command, announced that it successfully collected N234 billion in revenue during the month of November. Muhammad Yakubu, the command’s Public Relations Officer, made this disclosure in a statement on Monday.
Yakubu elaborated that the revenue collection witnessed a notable increase of N20.9 billion, representing a growth of 9.8 per cent when compared to the N213 billion collected by the command in November 2022.
The Customs Area Controller for the command, Abba Yusuf, expressed optimism that the command would achieve its total revenue target for the year 2023. He emphasized that officers of the command were fully engaged to work optimally, aligning with the mandate of the service.
Yusuf reiterated the significance of compliance and transparency in ensuring swift cargo clearance, stating, “Customs officers were fully mobilized to conduct joint examinations from 9 am to 4 pm with sister government agencies to avoid the delays associated with separate examinations by the individual agencies.”
Highlighting the command’s achievements, Yusuf stated, “The command is a model in many areas, including a record-breaking three-hour roll-on-roll-off cargo clearance time with one hundred percent compliance.”
He added that this efficient time-release approach is sustainable and has contributed to the command’s ability to maintain adequate terminal space, preventing congestion at PTML. The Controller also emphasized the command’s capacity to handle an increased volume of imported cargoes, citing the recent visit of the ‘MV Great Lagos,’ a vessel capable of carrying 2,500 vehicles, 2,000 containers, 2,500 general cargo, and various types of equipment.
