Gov. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra has congratulated Mr. Mark Okoye on his recent confirmation as the pioneering Managing Director of the South East Development Commission (SEDC) by the Senate.

Soludo said this in a statement by his press secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, on Wednesday in Awka.

The senate confirmed an 18-member nominee of the SEDC led by Dr Emeka Nworgu, who was confirmed as Chairman, and Mr. Mark Okoye as the managing director and Chief Executive Officer.

The nominees were confirmed following voice votes from the senators, shortly after adopting the report of the ad hoc committee on regional development commissions led by Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu (APC-Abia).

The governor described Okoye’s nomination by President Bola Tinubu as an attestation to his exceptional leadership capabilities and dedication to public service.

According to him, these were qualities he demonstrated while serving as the managing director of the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency and previously as Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning.

“I am confident that Okoye’s wealth of experience in investment banking and public service will significantly benefit the entire Southeast region in his new role as managing director of SEDC.

“I also thank President Tinubu for the meritorious appointment, which reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to fostering development across all regions of Nigeria.

“I wish Okoye greater wisdom and unparalleled success as he takes on this crucial responsibility of driving development initiatives in the Southeast region.

“I also congratulate the chairman and members of the governing board of the commission, who were also confirmed by the senate,” he said. (NAN)
