Afrobeats star Augustine Okechukwu, popularly known as Tekno, has unveiled Where Did Love Go?, an eight-track album that places love, longing and commitment at the centre of its storytelling.

The album’s release was announced in a statement by emPawa Africa and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Lagos.

According to the statement, the album followed months of anticipation generated by the singles Bamboo, Press Button and Matter, which together have amassed more than 3.1 million streams across digital platforms.

The project also highlights Tekno’s growing influence behind the console, with the singer producing half of the tracks while working alongside producers Yung Willis, D’Meek, Justopac and Tino.

The opening track, Bamboo, sets the tone with a smooth, groove-driven sound before Press Button raises the tempo with dancehall influences while maintaining the melodic style that runs through the album.

At the heart of the project is Adaeze, described as the album’s standout track and emotional centrepiece.

The song finds Tekno reflecting on the frustration and uncertainty of loving someone who has suddenly grown distant.

The mood shifts on Matter, a self-produced record that transforms loyalty into a sing-along anthem, built around the simple but effective declaration that the concerns of a loved one become your own.

Tekno deepens the theme of devotion on Au Prins, where he expresses a willingness to cross borders for love, while Wedding Day celebrates commitment and the promise of forever through intimate, uplifting melodies.

The album then eases into Gently, another self-produced romantic offering, before closing with Avelay.

Built around the phrase, “I dey available,” the track presents love as presence, showing up, providing and being dependable when it matters most.

According to the statement, Where Did Love Go? explores romance from multiple angles, including uncertainty, desire, devotion, commitment and responsibility.

It said the album, now streaming on digital platforms, demonstrates why the singer remains one of Afrobeats’ most compelling voices and showcases his ability to translate everyday emotions into records that resonate far beyond the dancefloor.(NAN).
