President Bola Tinubu on Friday commended Dr. Adekunle Hassan for donating N500 million to establish a professorial chair in ophthalmology at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, Ogun.
The president described Hassan’s gesture as a noble and noteworthy effort towards academic research and development and encouraged other citizens to enlist in the advancement of education in the nation.
Tinubu thanked Hassan, an ophthalmic surgeon, for his contributions to the health sector and wished him continued success, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, his spokesman, said in a statement.
The president also congratulated Hassan, founder and Chief Medical Director of the Eye Foundation Hospital Group, on his conferment with an honorary degree of Doctor of Science at OOU’s 34th convocation on Friday. (NAN)
