Trader docked for allegedly destroying freezers belonging to complainant

Okitipupa (Ondo State) April 9, 2026 (NAN) A 54-year-old trader, Agnes Olayinka, on Thursday appeared before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State, for allegedly destroying two big freezers belonging to a complainant.

The defendant whose address was not stated, is standing trial on a three-count charge bordering on malicious damage and stealing.

He however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, ASP Ayodeji Omoyeigha, told the court that the defendant committed the offence alongside one other now at large, on March 15 at about 11.50 a.m at Idepe High School junction in Okitipupa, Okitipupa Magistterial District.

He alleged that the defendant destroyed two freezers belonging to one Funke Olotu, and also stole two engines and condensers

The offences contravene the provisions of section 390(9), 451 and 516 of the Criminal Law of Ondo State, 2006.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Mayowa Olanipekun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N250,000 with one surety in like sum.

He added that the surety must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction and must also present evidence of two years tax payment made to the state.

He, adjourned the case until April 27, for hearing. (NAN)
