Jos, Jan. 22, 2026 (NAN) A Magistrate’s Court in Jos, on Thursday, sentenced 35-year-old Isaiah Gaji, aged 35, to two years in the correctional facility for defrauding two men.

The Magistrate, Irene Pati, sentenced the convict, who pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of breach of trust, cheating and obtaining by false pretence.

Pati sentenced the convict to one year for breach of trust, or a fine of N30,000, and another one year for cheating or fine of N30,000.

She also ordered him to pay a compensation of N130,000 to the two complainants or spend another 4 months at the correctional centre in default.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Ijuptil Thiawur, told the court that the case was reported on Dec. 15, 2025 at the Anglo-Jos Police Station by the complainants, Asah Nasamu and Yelim Daniels.

Thiawur said that the convict collected N110,000 from the complainants to buy rice and beans from his village for them but converted the money to his own personal use.
