Ibadan, Jan. 16, 2026 (NAN) The Police on Friday arraigned a 26-year-old unemployed youth, Wisdom Ibrahim, over an alleged attempt to snatch a commercial motorcycle valued at N1.2 million.

Ibrahim, of undisclosed address, is standing trial on a two-count charge of attempted theft and threat to life, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, ASP Tunji Olaniyi, said the offences occurred on Jan. 14, at about 4.00 p.m. at Aba-Igbira area, off Adeoyo State Hospital Road, Ibadan.

Olaniyi said the defendant attempted to snatch a commercial motorcycle with registration number FMT 697 VD, valued at N1.2 million, from one Umaru Aliu.

He also alleged that the defendant threatened Aliu by attempting to stab him with an animal horn.

Olaniyi added that the offences contravened Sections 86 and 509 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mr M. Mudashiru, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Mudashiru said one surety must be a blood relative of the defendant with a driver’s licence or voter’s card for identification, while the second must provide a three-year tax clearance certificate.

He thereafter adjourned the case until March 3 for hearing. (NAN
