Some armed thugs suspected to have been recruited by the Peoples’ Democratic Party(PDP) have attacked Dr Alex Otti’s campaign team at Ntigha, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government of Abia. The Thugs who were in four vehicles, including two PDP branded buses waylaid Otti’s motorcade at Ntigha junction on Enugu-Portharcourt express way about 2.23pm.
Otti is the APGA gubernotarial candidate for Abia 2015.
Eye witnesses said, the thugs who were led by the Transitional Council Chairman of the local Government area, Mr. Ginger Onwusibe shot randomly into the air, causing stampede among passersby and motorists on the express way. Johnson Chukwu, an APGA chieftain was thoroughly beaten up and his vehicle windscreens shattered.
Otti however restrained his security personnel from shooting at the thugs. Otti’s campaign team had to park by the roadside until the thugs were repelled by the youths of the area, assisted by policemen.
This is the second time in less than two weeks that Otti was being attacked by PDP.
