Abuja, Sept. 29, 2025 (NAN) The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Monday reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to connecting rural communities with road infrastructure.

Wike spoke in Abuja during the inauguration of a seven-kilometre access road bypassing the Airport Second Runway from Bill Clinton Drive to Tunga Madaki settlements.

He explained that the access road, which includes a four-span bridge, would connect nine communities and terminate at Zuba Road.

According to him, the project fulfils President Tinubu’s promise to the community for donating land towards the construction of a second runway at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

“One of the communities’ requests was to be connected and linked with roads,” Wike said.

He described it as unfair for the people to give land for a second runway, yet lack access even to the airport.

“When I presented their request, President Tinubu said, ‘whatever the settlement asks for, give it to them’.

“Today, to the glory of God, we fulfil the promise made by the President. This reflects the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda,’” he said.

Wike assured residents that the project would be completed by mid-2026, to mark Tinubu’s third year in office.

He stressed that the initiative demonstrates Tinubu’s commitment as a listening leader who makes and fulfils promises.

Also speaking, FCT Minister of State, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, said the project would enhance security and open Tunga Madaki and neighbouring settlements to socio-economic opportunities.

Mahmoud added that the construction reflects the administration’s resolve to guarantee seamless connectivity for motorists and residents. (NAN)
