The Minna Emirate Youths Association (MEYA) has honoured Dr. Mustapha Jibrin, former Commissioner for Health in Niger, for his contributions to youth development in the state.
He was recognised on Saturday during the graduation ceremony of 250 youth beneficiaries trained on various skills by MEYA in Minna.
During the occasion, the president of MEYA, Bashir Abubakar, commended the former commissioner for his efforts in supporting youth empowerment initiatives, particularly in the areas of education and skills acquisition.
He lauded Jibrin’s dedication to youth development, saying that his contributions had made a significant impact on the lives of young people in the state.
Responding, Jibrin commended the association for its efforts in training young people in various areas of entrepreneurship.
“I am impressed with the association’s initiative to train youths in areas such as bakery, catering, cobbling, solar installation, and others.
“I have been supporting the association, and I am happy to see the impact it is having on the youths,” he said.
He noted that the association’s approach was unique as it provided starter packs to the trainees and also offered apprenticeship opportunities to ensure they become self-reliant.
“We plan to send them for an apprenticeship, which will cost about N1 million.
“I have discussed with the president of the association, and I will take up the cost,” he added.
Jibrin also commended Gov. Umaru Bago’s led administration for its efforts in supporting youth development in the state.
“The government is doing a lot to support youth development, and we appreciate the emir, Dr. Umar Bahago, for his contributions to the association,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that others who received the same recognition include Sheikh Nuredden Lemu, Mohammed Yerima, Aminu Ladan, and Mrs. Elizabeth Shaba. (NAN)
