The Council Chairman, Ifo Local Government of Ogun State, Mrs Kikelomo Delano has urged motorists to imbibe road safety consciousness to minimise crashes during the Yuletide.
Delano, who gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Ota, also urged them to shun any nefarious act that could lead to loss of life.
She said the advice became necessary for motorists as December was usually busy, adding that there was always increase in vehicular movement, good and services due to the Yuletide.
The chairman called on them to cooperate with all traffic agencies and strictly adhere to traffic rules and regulations to avoid mishaps on the roads.
Delano said that motorists needed to reduce their speed, adding that speed had been a major cause of crashes.
“Dot not speed unnecessary, try as much as possible to slow down especially at construction zones and obey traffic signals to avoid loss of life,” she said.
The chairman urged motorists to ensure that their vehicles were in good condition before plying the highways.
She warned them against driving against the traffic and to refrain from dangerous driving so they would not become victims of circumstances. (NAN)
