- Zambian President Edgar Lungu, has declared 21 days of national mourning in honour of the country’s first President Kenneth Kaunda, who died yesterday.
The Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) television also announced that all activities of entertainment nature are suspended with immediate effect.
Kenneth Kaunda, Zambia’s first president in 1964, and one of the last of the generation of African leaders who fought colonialism, was admitted on Monday to Maina Soko Medical Centre in Lusaka suffering from pneumonia, died peacefully at the age of 97.
