2 docked for allegedly receiving N971,000 worth of stolen goods

Two men, Ayomide Afolabi, 27, and Ridwan Badmus, 28, alleged to have received N971,000 worth of stolen goods, were on Friday arraigned before a Grade A Customary Court sitting at Mapo in Ibadan.

The defendants both pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge of conspiracy, receiving stolen goods and stealing instituted against them.

Consequently, the Court’s President, Mrs O.E. Owoseni, granted bail to each of the defendants in the sum of N500,000 with two reliable sureties each in like sum.

Owoseni added that each of the sureties must be blood relatives and possess National Identification Number (NIN).

She subsequently adjourned the case until May 7 for hearing.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Ayodele Ayeni told the court that the defendants allegedly committed the offences between May 25, 2025 and June 14, 2025, at Oke-Are area in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Ayeni said that Afolabi and Badmus allegedly conspired with others now at large to receive nine Nagnet speakers, valued N300,000; one “Slave engine” valued at N120,000 and four clippers valued at N40,000.

Also allegedly received by the defendants were: one small engine valued at N18,000, a big OX fan valued at N180,000, and one big Elepaq generator, valued at N150,000.

Other include: one small Tiger generator valued at N40,000, one mixer 16 channels, valued at N22,000, four microphones, valued at N14,000 and one Sony stabiliser, valued at N85,000.

He said that the total worth of the goods was N971,000 and they belonged to  one Babatunde Olanrewaju.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene the provision of Sections 516, 390 (9) and 316 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol. II Law of Oyo State 2000. (NAN)
