Two men, Abdullahi Suleiman, 35 and Usman Mukailu, 50, were, on Thursday, arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court over alleged house breaking and stealing.
The defendants, of unknown addresses, are facing a two-count charge of house breaking and stealing.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp Elijah Adejare, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on April 16, at about 09:00 p.m. in Ado-Ekiti.
Adejara said that the defendants broke into the house of one Idris Temitayo and stole a GOTV decoder, sound system, gas cylinder, Ankara clothes, oil perfume, blender machine and working I.D card, all totalling N886,600, property of the complainant.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 322(a) and 302(a) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor asked the court for adjournment to enable him study the case file and present his witnesses.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.
Counsels to the defendants, Messrs Michael Olaleye and Gboyega Abiola, urged the court to grant them bail, with a promise that they would not jump bail.
The Magistrate, Mrs Dolapo Kay-Williams, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N200,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.
She, thereafter, adjourned the case till May 26, for hearing. (NAN)
