The Police, on Friday, arraigned two primary school teachers, Andrew Idiehue and Happiness Iyhoriobe, before a Zuba Upper Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly disturbing public peace.
The defendants, Idiehue, 32, of Duste Alhaji Abuja and Iyhoriobe, 26, of Elite Stars as well as Brains Montessori School, Kubwa, Abuja, were charged with disturbance of public peace.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.
The Prosecution Counsel, Chinedu Ogada, told the court that on Jan.10, at 5.00 p.m., the defendants engaged in a physical combat.
Ogada said that the defendants, whose action led to the disturbance of public peace, were apprehended and taken to Kubwa Police Station.
According to Ogada, the offence contravenes Section 113 of the Penal Code.
The Presiding Judge, Ismailia Abudullahi, however, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N500,000, with one surety each in like sum.
Abdullahi ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, have a reliable means of livelihood and an identity card, which must be verified by the court registrar.
He adjourned the matter till Jan. 25, for hearing. (NAN).
