No less than 26 Zamfara communities have executed various development projects worth N207 million, with funding support from the World Bank in 2019, under the supervision of the state Agency for Community and Social Development Project (CSDP).

The Permanent Secretary of the agency, Alhaji Garba Muhammad, stated this in Gusau on Wednesday during a capacity building training on maintenance of the community projects.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the participants were members of the Projects Management Committees from the benefitting communities.

Garba said that the benefiting communities were located in Anka, Bungudu, Birnin Magaji, Bakura, Bukkuyum, Maradun, Shinkafi, Tsafe and Talata Mafara local government areas.

He said 70 projects were executed by the communities in the areas of healthcare, education, drainage system, electrification and skills acquisition, among others

“We selected these communities for this training in recognition of their performance in executing quality projects and maintenance in 2019,” he said.

In his remark, the Project Manager of the agency, Alhaji Sani Buhari, commended the communities for complying with the guidelines given on projects execution by the agency and World Bank.

Buhari cautioned project management committees against compromising standards.

In his presentation, the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager of the agency, Alhaji Samaila Yusuf, also cautioned communities against dumping of refuse in drainage and other waterways.
