Three persons, Mojere Ayoloye, 60; Taye Ayoloye, 62 and Femi Awobifa, 40, were, on Thursday, brought before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court for allegedly damaging a building, worth N1.8 million.
The Prosecutor, Insp Adesina Elijah, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Aug. 19, 2021, around 10:00 a.m. at Modomo area of Ile-Ife.
Elijah said that the defendants conspired among themselves to commit felony to wit: removal of boundary marks with intent to defraud.
He added that the defendants unlawfully and willfully removed the beacons lawfully erected by one Mrs Sherifat Okeleye on the parcel of land, which she purchased for her son, Luke Fadiora.
The prosecutor said that the defendants conspired among themselves to cause forcible entry and malicious damage.
He stated further that the defendants caused sudden apprehension and breach of peace on the land, which Okeleye peaceably possessed.
Elijah said that the defendants willfully and unlawfully damaged the building foundation, valued at N1.8 million.
According to him, the offences contravened Sections 81, 451,457, 516 and 517 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Jimi Omirin, applied for bail for the defendants in the most liberal term, pledging that his clients would not jump bail, but would provide substantial sureties.
Magistrate O. B. Adediwura granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 each, with one surety each in like sum.
Adediwura said that the sureties must swear to affidavits of means, reside within the court’s jurisdiction, with their addresses to be verified and produce three recent passport photographs each.
The case was adjourned till July 26 for hearing. (NAN)
