Ibadan, Jan. 6, 2026 (NAN) Four defendants on Friday, appeared before a Grade A Customary Court at Mapo, Ibadan, over alleged breach of public peace.

The defendants are: Lateef Odunmitan, 26; Ismail Jimoh, 28; Saheed Baseet, 18; and Saheed Adegoke, 29.

They were charged on one-count bordering on causing a breach of public peace.

They each, however, pleaded not guilty to the change.

The prosecutor, insp. Ayodele Ayeni, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Jan. 20, at about 10.00 p.m. at the Opeyemi area of Ibadan.

Ayeni alleged that the defendants conspired to commit the offence alongside others now at large.

The prosecutor alleged that the defendants had engaged in a free-for-all in the area, which caused a breach of public peace.

Ayeni said that they were consequently, arrested by police from the Idiaro division.

The offence contravenes the provision of section 249 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State.

The court President, Mrs O.E. Owoseni, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N200,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.

Owoseni added that each of the sureties must provide evidence of payment of electricity bill, with the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC)

The court adjourned the case until Feb. 26, for hearing. (NAN)
