48-year-old man docked for alleged impersonation, forgery

Makurdi, March 5, 2026 (NAN) A 48-year-old man, Terhemba Igboko, was on Thursday arraigned before the Makurdi Chief Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly forging certificates and impersonating as a health officer.

Igboko, who lives at Ayilamo in Logo Local Government Area of Benue, was charged with impersonation and forgery.

He, however, denied the allegations.

The Prosecutor, Insp Friday Kanshio, told the court that the defendant was arrested on Jan. 8 and brought to the State CID, Makurdi on the allegation that he owns and operates a Health and Maternity Clinic at Ayilamo.

Kanshio alleged that the defendant also carries out surgical operations on patients.

He also alleged that during police investigation, the defendant’s certificates were scrutinized and found to be forged signifying that he is not a trained medical doctor or a surgeon.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 134 and 365 of the Penal Code Laws of Benue, 2004.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Regina Alashi, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N1 million and two sureties in like sum.

Alashi adjourned the matter until March 30, for hearing. (NAN)
