6 in court over alleged public nuisance, breach of peace

Six persons were on Monday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged public nuisance and breach of peace.

The defendants: Hassan Yahaya, 20, Ayuba Adamu, 40; Abayomi Tolulope, 30; Afolabi Olamide, 26; Rilwan Adedeji, 30 and Sunday Oso, 33, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants committed the offence at about 9.00p.m on May 3 in Ado-Ekiti.

He said that the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by constituting public nuisance.

Oriyomi said the offence contravened Section 181(1) (d) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the case file and assemble witnesses.

Counsel to the defendants, Mr Oluwafemi Alabi, urged the court to grant the defendants bail, and promised that they would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety each in like sum, and adjourned the case till June 26 for hearing.(NAN)
