Ahead of  Friday’s burial of the late Super Falcon’s coach, Joseph Ladipo, the Oyo State Government on Tuesday in Ibadan donated N1 million to the family.

Mr Adedapo Lam-Adeshina, the state Commissioner for Youth and Sports, presented the money to the family at a forum in Ibadan.

Lam-Adeshina, however, urged Nigerians to stop the habit of  celebrating their heroes when they were dead.

Also speaking, Dr Steve Olarinoye, the Coordinator of the  National Sports Commission (NSC) in  the South-West Zone,  commended the state government for the gesture.

Olarinoye,  a member of the  Jossy Lad  Burial Committee, promised that the NSC would emulate the state government by supporting the family.

The son of the deceased, Tunji, expressed gratitude to  the state government for the support given to the family uptill his eventual demise.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the lying-in-state for  the late coach,  popularly known as Jossy Lad, will hold at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium on Thursday

The funeral service, it was learnt, would hold at Christ Church, Mapo, Ibadan, on Friday  while interment will follow immediately.
