Makurdi, Feb. 5, 2026 (NAN) The Benue Government has distributed relief materials to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), at Otobi-Akpa Community, Otukpo Local Government Area of the state.
This is contained in a press statement on Thursday signed by Mr Tema Ager, the Information Officer of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management and made available to newsmen in Makurdi.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that suspected bandits had attacked the community, killing and destroying properties worth millions of naira.
Ager said that Mr James Iorpuu, the Permanent Secretary/Executive Secretary, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management and BSEMA performed the exercise.
He said that Iorpuu was represented by Mr Orseer Zege, Programme Manager, IDPs Operations and Mr Solomon Azulo, Head of Department, Relief and Rehabilitation of the agency.
He said that the items distributed include100 bags of rice, 100 bags of beans, 50 bags of garri, 100 cartons of noodles, and 10 gallons of red oil.
The information officer said that the items were aimed at cushioning the immediate impact of the displacement on the affected households.
Speaking during the presentation, the Secretary, Local Government Council, Mr Simon Ibenyi, appreciated the Benue Government and BSEMA for the prompt intervention to the people of Otobi-Akpa community.(NAN)
