Lagos, Feb. 16, 2026 (NAN) The Lagos State Government has strengthened the operational capacity of the Police Command with the donation of four new patrol vehicles.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Commissioner of Police, Mr Olohundare Jimoh, received the vehicles on Monday at the command headquarters in Ikeja.

Jimoh said the patrol assets would enhance round-the-clock policing and reinforce the command’s ability to prevent and detect crime across the state.

He said the vehicles were provided by the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, led by its Executive Secretary, Dr Ayo Ogunsan.

According to him, the donation followed the directive of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who prioritizes protection of lives and property.

Jimoh disclosed that the vehicles would be deployed to strategic patrol teams, including a newly created Anti-Crime Patrol and Community Protection Unit.

He said the unit would be stationed in the Maroko axis to ensure rapid response across Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Lekki, Ajah and neighboring communities.

“The deployment is aimed at preventing criminal infiltration from neighboring states and securing major entry and exit routes.

“This will further reinforce our 24-hour patrol operations and sustain the progress we have made in crime prevention,” the commissioner said.

He warned criminal elements to desist or face arrest and prosecution.

“Those who refuse to repent will be found, investigated and made to face the full weight of the law,” Jimoh said.

The commissioner also revealed the establishment of a Nightlife Squad to strengthen security around hotels, recreational centres and entertainment hubs.

According to him, Lagos operates around the clock, requiring proactive policing to protect businesses and residents.

Jimoh assured residents that the donated vehicles would be used strictly for patrol and operational duties.

He added that additional vehicles were expected to further strengthen policing coverage statewide.

The police chief commended the governor and the Security Trust Fund for sustained support.

“We will continue to take policing to the doorstep of every resident to ensure Lagos remains safe for all,” he said. (NAN)
