A 28-year-old man, Solarin Sodiq on Tuesday appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, over alleged membership of an unlawful society.
Sodiq, a student of the Ibadan polytechnic is standing trial on charges bordering on conspiracy and belonging to an unlawful society.
He, however pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Insp. Adeshina Folaranmi, alleged that the defendant committed the offences on May, 11, at the school’s premises.
Folaranmi alleged that the defendant conspired with others now at large, to become members of Eiye confraternity, an unlawful society.
He said that the defendant was eventually arrested following police investigations, while others remain at large.
The offences contravene the provisions of Sections 64 and 516 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Oluwabusayo Osho granted the defendant bail in the sum of one million naira with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until Sept. 1, for hearing. (NAN)
