My wife is very filthy, I am fed up, man tells court

An Osun Magistrates’ Court on Thursday ordered the remand of five persons over alleged cultism and public disturbance.

The defendants — Ajiboye Toheeb, Morufu Sodiq, Folorunso Moshood, Badiru Saheed and Hassan Sodiq — were alleged members of the Eiye Confraternity and accused of causing public disturbance at the Osogbo Central Hospital.

The police prosecutor, Insp. Temitope Fatola, told the court that the defendants also caused disturbance in the Gbomi and Oke-Baale areas of Osogbo.

Fatola said the offences contravene Sections 516, 249(1)(d) and 64(a) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 34, Vol. II, Laws of Osun State, 2002.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Defence counsel, Mr Folorunso Sulaiman, urged the court to grant the defendants bail, but the prosecutor opposed the application.

Fatola told the court that there were multiple complaints against the defendants, adding that they had previously been convicted and granted bail, only to allegedly commit further offences.

The Magistrate, Dr M.A. Olatunji, ordered that the defendants be remanded in a correctional centre pending further proceedings.

The case was adjourned to July 13.(NAN)
