Jigawa simplifies process for rural dwellers to access free drugs
The Jigawa government has inaugurated a committee to facilitate the process by which rural dwellers could easily access free drugs across its 27 council areas.
This is contained in a statement signed on Sunday by Mr. Najib Umar, the Public Relations Officer, State Ministry for Local Government and Community Development.
Umar said that the state government inaugurated the committee through the office of the state commissioner for local government and community development, Ahmed Garba.
He quoted the commissioner at the inauguration as saying that the objective of the gesture was to make it easier for poor people to access good healthcare services.
“The scheme, a replica of the effort of the state government under the leadership of Gov. Umar A. Namadi to ensure that every citizen in the state enjoys free, qualitative, and accessable health care services, is in line with the provisions of the Universal Health Coverage as spelled out by the World Health Organization (WHO).
“A huge amount of money was expended on the procurement of the items, so I urge you to ensure that the drugs are utilised judiciously and transparently,” Garba was quoted as telling the committee members.
Umar said that the commissioner assured that the ministry, under his watch, would continue evolving means and avenues that will help in enhancing the lives of the people in the 27 local governments of the state.
He also quoted the Technical Adviser to Gov. Namadi on health-related matters, Alhaji Isah Suraja, as commending the commissioner for making the initiative a reality.
According to Umar, Suraja also appreciated the governor for considering the health of the people in the state  a priority. (NAN)
