Ado-Ekiti court remands 49-year-old man, over alleged burglary, stealing

An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday, ordered the remand of a 49-year-old man, Musa Safiu, in the correctional centre at Ado-Ekiti over alleged burglary and stealing.

 

The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Afunso Saka, ordered the remand of the defendant in the centre, pending issuance of legal advice.

 

The defendant, whose address was not provided, is being tried for alleged burglary and stealing.

 

The police prosecutor, Insp. Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Aug. 12 around 12.00 am in Isinbode-Ekiti.

 

Akinwale alleged that the defendant broke into the apartment of one Mr. Muyiwa Akinbobola.

 

He also alleged that the defendant stole one big elephant generator, a Thermocool generator, a gas cylinder, a mattress, and a 24-inch television.

 

Akinwale added that other items stolen were 62 inches plasma television, a pumping machine and some items valued at N2.5 million belonging to the complainant.

According to him, the offences contravened Sections 411 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

 

The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant in a correctional centre, pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution.

 

The plea of the defendant was not taken.

 

The Chief Magistrate adjourned the case until Dec. 16 for mention. (NAN).
