Alleged N1.6m fraud: ‘Estate agent’ arraigned in Ibadan

Ibadan, Feb. 26, 2026 (NAN) A self acclaimed estate agent, Timothy Adedeji, 30, accused of N1.6 million fraud, on Thursday, was arraigned before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan.

The defendant, whose address was not provided, is facing a two – count charge of fraud and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, ASP Foluke Adedosu alleged that the defendant allegedly committed the offences sometime in August 2025 at Challenge area of Ibadan at 7:00p.m.

Adedosu said that Adedeji fraudulently obtained N1.6million through a transfer made to his  Zenith Bank Account No : 2208601153 for accommodation at Lead City University in Ibadan.

The prosecutor alleged that the defendant fraudulently obtained the money from one Bose Oluokun, a student of the institution, on pretext of assisting her secure a hostel accommodation.

She also alleged that the defendant stole the money from the complainant, Oluokun.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened the provisions of Section 390 (9) and 419 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Oyo State 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs A. T. Oyediji admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N600,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Oyediji adjourned the matter until March 25, for hearing. (NAN)
