APC accuses PDP of plans to rig elections with military

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the Presidency and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of planning to use the military to rig the rescheduled March general elections, report ThisDay.

The party said it had gotten information that the presidency had forwarded a secret memo to all commanders of divisions and battalions of the Nigerian Army for a three-day strategy meeting in Kaduna from Monday on how to use the military to intimidate voters in the APC states to rig election in favour of President Jonathan.

John Odigie-Oyegun, APC’s National Chairman, while addressing a press conference in Abuja on Monday, warned that the country’s democracy is in a grave danger with the move to involve the military.

He noted that the PDP is leaving nothing to chance in ensuring that it returns to power.

He said  that the recent revelations about the role of the military in Ekiti elections is demonstrable proof of how far President Jonathan’s government will go to compromise the military as an institution.
