Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress on Thursday shunned the National Security Council meeting called by President Goodluck Jonathan.
Only governors elected on the platform of Jonathan’s party, the Peoples Democratic Party, the Labour Party and All Progressives Grand Alliance were at the meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Jonathan called the meeting in response to the growing insecurity in the country.
On Monday, a bomb exploded at a motor park in Nyanya, on the outskirts of Abuja, while members of Boko Haram abducted over 200 girls of a school in Borno State.
However, the governors elected on the platform of the APC, who visited the scene of Monday’s bomb explosion and the victims in the hospitals where they were admitted, boycotted the National Security Council meeting.
They had challenged Jonathan and the country’s security chiefs to find a solution to the growing insecurity in the nation.
The Eagle Online will bring you more details of events at the National Security Council meeting shortly.
