The Police on Wednesday arraigned a 35-year-old woman, Fatoyinbo Yemisi, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over an alleged conversion of fund.
The defendant, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a charge of conversion of fund.
She however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against her.
The Prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 3, at J. O Adegboyega Enterprises Promasidor Company, off Kilometer 5 along Ikere road in Ado-Ekiti.
Oriyomi alleged that the defendant, a sale representative, stole the sum of N3.5 million entrusted to her and converted the money to her own use.
According to the prosecutor, the money belonged to the company, Adegboyega Enterprises.
Akinwale said that the offence contravened Section 302 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021 and urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him study the file and assemble his witnesses.
Counsel to the defendant, Mr Opeyemi Esan, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, with a promise that she would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Aug.7, for hearing.(NAN)
