A 23-year-old apprentice, Habeeb Isiaka, was on Tuesday docked at a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly stealing cash and property worth N462,000 from his employer.
The defendant of No.14, Adeboye Ijora pleaded not guilty to the charge of theft.
The prosecutor, Insp. Courage Ekhueorohan, told the court that the defendant on Aug. 30, along Tejuosho Road, Surulere, stole property and cash worth N462, 000 from his employer.
Ekhueorohan said that the employer and complainant, Salami Azeez, had given his automated teller machine (ATM) card to the defendant to help make a withdrawal of N62,000.
He explained that the defendant withdrew the money as he was told, but absconded with it.
He said that the defendant also stole a pair of motor catalyst, worth N400,000, bringing the total value of stolen cash and property to N462, 000.
The prosecutor told the court that the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs. Sodiq Bello, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200, 000 with one reasonable surety in like sum, who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
She adjourned the case until Oct.14 for further hearing. (NAN)
