Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), says the essence of the Affordable Home Ownership Option for All Soldiers (AHOOAS) scheme, is to improve the welfare of personnel.

Lagbaja stated this at the foundation laying ceremony of the scheme in Nsit Atai/Uruan Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom on Friday.
The army chief said that the housing scheme was part of his broader strategy to enhance the quality of life of army personnel.
Lagbaja expressed gratitude to the Akwa Ibom Government for its support and collaboration towards the implementation of the project.
He said that the ground breaking ceremony represented a critical step in the efforts to provide quality and affordable housing for soldiers.
“The housing scheme will be a morale booster for our troops, it affords them and their families a platform to own comfortable housing,” he said.
In his remarks, Gov. Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, commended the COAS for his unwavering dedication towards the welfare of army personnel.
Represented by Uko Udom, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Eno described the housing scheme as a landmark initiative.
“It is aimed to provide quality, affordable, and secure home ownership options for soldiers,” he said.
Eno commended Lagbaja for deploying a result-oriented leadership style in handling the affairs of the Nigeria Army.
“It is a good omen that you are ensuring that soldiers not only have access to decent living conditions but an opportunity to own their homes.
“The significance of this project in boosting the morale and well-being of the troops cannot be over emphasized,’ he said.
