The Golf Section of Ikoyi Club 1938 this weekend engaged in an enthralling friendly interclub Matchplay with Arsenal Golf Club, Owerri.

During the competition which had more than 36-openings with the host group checking 19.5-Stableford  against the guests.

The exceptionally serious and engaging experience was the first of such matches to be played between the two clubs.

Communicating his excitement at the turnout of the opposition, the host Captain, Mr. Bluff Orjiakor, praised all members and Polaris Bank for showing up for the occasion.

Different features of the Match Play were: Longest drive (Ladies)- Edith Udegbe (Ikoyi Club 1938); Longest Drive (Men) – Emaka Okatta (Arsenal Golf Club); the Best score on Hole 5 (Ladies) was secured by Edith Udegbe (Ikoyi Club 1938); and the Best score on Hole 5 (Men) was trucked home by Osasere Evbuomwan of Ikoyi Club 1938).

The Host Captain brought to the notice of the audience that the best way to support the improvement of Golf in the nation is through corporate and private area magnanimity and sponsorship.

In his words:

“Golf is an interesting game which advances public solidarity and wellness across all ages and ages”

Dr. Okoro while expressing gratitude for the development, challenged other corporate organizations to emulate the partnership between Polaris Bank and the Ikoyi Club 1938 Golf Section.

According to the Acting Managing Director of Polaris Bank, Mr. Blameless C. Ike, who additionally took part in the match play, he said: “the sport of Golf mirrors deftness, boldness, and honesty, which are a portion of the qualities, which Polaris Bank is famous for and these qualities manage the Bank’s business”.

He showed great appreciation to the Captain and individuals from the Arsenal Golf and Country Club for being acceptable hosts to the guests.
