A 39-year-old artisan, Soliu Oladejo, was on Tuesday accused in an Oyo State Family Court sitting in Iyaganku of stealing a two-year-old named baby.
The police charged Oladejo with conspiracy and child stealing.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Folake Ewe, told the court that the defendant, as well as others at large, had allegedly conspired to commit the offense.
“We have reason to believe Oladejo took girl by force from the custody of her parents on July 21, 2020,” said police.
She said the offence violated sections 371 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
The defendant denied the charge.
The judge, Mrs Adetuyibi, granted bail to the defendant for N100,000. He has been released on bail with two sureties in equal amount.
The matter was adjourned until January 12th.
If found guilty to the charges, he is liable to a 14 year jail sentence.
