Okitipupa (Ondo State), Feb. 20, 2026 (NAN) A 35-year-old artisan, Gbenga Oyerinmade, on Friday appeared before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State over an alleged threat to life.
The defendant, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge bordering on breach of peace and threat to life.
The prosecutor, ASP Ayodeji Omoyeigha, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Dec. 7, 2025, at about 10:00 a.m. on a farmland along the Okitipupa–Ikoya road in Okitipupa Magisterial District.
He said the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by threatening the life of one Kunle Adeogun over land possession.
Omoyeigha added that the defendant and the complainant were embroiled in an argument over the ownership of a piece of land in Adeogun’s possession.
The prosecutor further alleged that the defendant chased the complainant with a cutlass and threatened to kill him over the portion of land.
He said the offences contravened Sections 86 and 249(d) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mr Mayowa Olanipekun, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He ordered that the surety must present evidence of two years’ tax clearance paid to the state government.
The case was adjourned until March 3 for further hearing. (NAN)
