The police on Friday, dragged two artisans before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, for allegedly damaging a car’s electrical system worth five million naira.
The defendants are: Ridwan Adeleke, 34; and Afeez Amuda, 33.
The duo who are mechanics, were charged with conspiracy, malicious damage and fraudulent act.
They each, however pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Insp. Adeshina Folaranmi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on March 13, at Soka area of Ibadan.
Folaranmi alleged that the defendants damaged the gear of one Honda pilot jeep, belonging to a customer, one Mr Sola Oketunji.
He alleged that the defendants had fraudulently received N25,000 earlier from Oketunji, under a false pretence of repairing his car gear which they failed to do.
He alleged that the defendants instead, maliciously damaged the gear and electrical system of the jeep which is worth five million naira.
The offences contravenes the provisions of sections 421, 451 and 518(2) of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Oluwabusayo Osho, granted the defendants bail in the sum of one million naira each, with two sureties each in like sum.
She adjourned the case until Aug.12, for hearing. (NAN)
