Be civil, group advises youths ahead of protest

A group, Youth Initiative Against Violence and Human Rights Abuse (YIAVHA), has advised Nigerian youths to be civil during the planned nationwide protest against the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Mr Jacbo Pwakim, the Executive Director of the organisation gave the advice in a statement on Monday in Jos.

Pwakim, who acknowledged the rights of citizens to protest, called on those who will participate in the exercise not to infringe on the rights of others.

He particularly called on the youths in Plateau resist the temptation that would make them destroy public assets in the state.

”We appeal to citizens to be civil while exercising their fundamental hunan rights to avoid infringing on the rights of other citizens.

”Coordination should be top-notch during the protest and should not give room for temptation of using their hands to draw back the developmental strides we are experiencing on the Plateau.

”You should not allow miscreants with strange motives to take advantage of the protest like they did during the EndSars protest and cause harm to others and destroy critical public assets,”he advised.

Pwakim, who commended the Police command in Plateau for arresting a suspect over inciting video, however, advised security agencies to deploy more skilful personnel during the protest.(NAN)
